More information Opening hoursFounded in 1970, the Durnwald Restaurant emerged from the legacy of the former Keil Restaurant and has since flourished as a beloved village eatery. Now run by the Mayr family, it draws visitors from far and wide with its seasonal, authentic cuisine rooted in the Slow Food philosophy. The menu strikes a perfect balance between tradition and creativity – some dishes honour traditional recipes, while others introduce inventive new twists. The restaurant is especially renowned for its local Alpine ox dishes sourced from Gsies, with the standout being the “Schwaßnudeln” blood noodles paired with grey cheese, a Pustertal speciality. Other favourites include homemade speck, sour soup, calf’s head, tongue and bread dumplings with venison goulash. An extensive wine list elevates the dining experience, ensuring every dish finds its perfect pairing. Guests can savour these culinary treasures either on the sun-drenched terrace or in the inviting warmth of the cosy dining rooms.
