At the Rösslwirt, South Tyrolean tradition blends charmingly with modern comfort. First mentioned in records in 1896 as the “Haus an der Gasse”, the hotel and restaurant are now run by Resi Rabensteiner. The hotel is a harmonious mix of old and new: the 400-year-old “Zirmstube” parlour sits alongside the “Eichenstube” dining room from 1982 and the contemporary “Kastaniensaal” dining room. Guests can also enjoy the cosy terrace with a view of Barbian’s famous 14th-century leaning church tower. Similarly, the culinary offerings strike a balance between tradition and innovation, with a focus on local ingredients. The Barbian horned ox dishes are a highlight, with meat sourced from Lukashof farm, just 100 metres away. Local products are the priority here, ensuring freshness and quality. For dessert lovers, the house-made ice cream creations by host Elmar are a must.

In the early 1980s, Resi Rabensteiner’s parents took over the Rösslwirt from an uncle, renovating it with respect for its historic structure. Since 2010, Resi and her husband Elmar have managed the place, blending fresh ideas with respect for its roots. Together, the Rabensteiner-Dorigoni family runs the establishment with a passion for hospitality and a commitment to sustainability.
