More information Opening hoursLocated in Kranebitt, on the sunny slopes of the Brixen valley basin, the Sunnegg is surrounded by vineyards and orchards. First mentioned in historical records in 1909 as “Neuhaus Sunnegg”, the estate was taken over by the Thaler family in the 1950s. They originally operated it as a traditional “Törggelehof” farmhouse restaurant only open during the Törggelen season (from late September to November). Today, the Sunnegg is a cosy inn where warm, family-style hospitality takes centre stage. Guests are invited to relax and enjoy the simple pleasures in life, whether seated in one of the charming wood-panelled parlours warmed by a traditional tiled stove in winter or outside in the spacious garden under vines and fig trees with views of the city. The menu offers South Tyrolean cuisine with Mediterranean influences, and a highlight is the house-made Sunnegg wine, a product of the family’s own vineyard.
The host family
Now in its fourth generation, the Thaler family continues to delight guests. As head chef, Alexander, who took over from his father, is responsible for the inn’s delicious culinary creations. His mother, Irmgard, is the heart and soul of the place, while his wife, Evi, provides guests with dedicated service and expert wine recommendations. Senior Manager Hermann is often found tending to the vineyard or the garden.

After a short climb up to the “Köferer Leite”, follow trail no. 4A across the terraced slopes to where it connects with the Valle Isarco Wine Trail.
