More information Opening hoursJust north of Sterzing, nestled among lush meadows in the quaint hamlet of Ried, you’ll find the Schaurhof Hotel and Restaurant, formerly known as Gasthof Ried. The Steurer family warmly welcomes guests who stop by for a bite to eat and to enjoy a moment of relaxation. This heritage-listed building has been lovingly restored – where the stables once stood, a cosy bar now leads into the hotel’s sunlit dining room. Guests love to gather in the charming wood-panelled rooms dating back to 1908 or in the inviting central parlour, while children can enjoy the playrooms and a playground. As for the food, expect delicious homemade dishes, including traditional South Tyrolean and Wipptal specialities, crafted mostly from ingredients from the hotel’s own garden or the nearby area.
The host family
The Schaurhof has been in the hands of the Steurer family since 1963, and it has been managed by Georg, the third generation, since 2005. As both host and chef, Georg delights guests with his culinary expertise. His mother, Helga, ensures that hotel guests start their day with a delicious breakfast, while his wife, Lucia, takes care of the restaurant service, offering warm hospitality to all.
