More information Opening hoursOnce a traditional mountain farm, the Dalvai family has transformed the Dorfner into an inn, offering accommodation and cuisine with a unique concept. For the past 15 years, they have been serving home-reared ox meat, raising the animals directly above the inn in a large pen with its own terrace. In addition to their signature “Gschnoner Ox”, the menu features an array of inventive dishes crafted from regional and home-grown ingredients. The blend of hearty meat and vegetarian options has earned the Dorfner numerous awards. Guests can enjoy these culinary delights on the sun-drenched terrace, in the cosy wood-panelled parlour, on the veranda or in the old barn with its 350-year-old beams.
The host family

The Dalvai family has been running the Dorfner for three generations. Senior managers Hubert and Reinhilde know every regular guest personally, while their son, Anton Dalvai, took over the kitchen at just 17 years old, following in his mother’s footsteps. Today, Anton, alongside his wife Christiane, continues to preserve the inn’s traditions while introducing fresh, innovative ideas. Together, they have found the perfect balance of honouring the old while embracing the new.

A Sunday roast in a Südtiroler Gasthaus
The Sunday roast is a cherished family tradition that is often the highlight of the week. And the Südtiroler Gasthaus Group makes a point of celebrating this culinary tradition every year. From January to March, every Sunday features comforting dishes prepared according to old family recipes. And just like in the past, when the Sunday roast and the after-church stew were weekly fixtures, only local, seasonal ingredients find their way onto your plate.
