InsriGer

The insriGer wine is exclusively bottled for Südtiroler Gasthaus by the Cantina St. Pauls winery. As a Pinot Noir, it is especially versatile – a characterful companion that pairs excellently with both traditional South Tyrolean cuisine and modern dishes.

The Südtiroler Gasthaus wine is not just any wine. It was selected through a competition in which South Tyrolean wine producers were invited to take part. A distinguished panel – including representatives from the South Tyrolean Sommelier Association, members of the Südtiroler Gasthaus Group and other wine experts – conducted a blind tasting to choose the winning wine. Every two years, we select a new wine. Exciting, right?

insriGs

This year’s new "insriGs" is a Gose beer – an exciting beer style with history and character. The old beer style Gose is a sour ale from the German town of Goslar. It’s also a true summer brew and is therefore available as part of the vegetarian specialty weeks “Sommerfrische.” It is brewed for the member establishments of the “Südtiroler Gasthaus” group by the craft brewery “Batzen Bräu” in Bolzano. Coriander and salt, along with a high proportion of wheat malt and lactic acid, make this beer particularly smooth and refreshing.

Gose has a long history! The style originally comes from the Goslar region, but the most well-known version comes from Leipzig. The Leipzig Gose was already being brewed in the 16th century and was a popular beer in the region.

In the 18th and 19th centuries, Gose was an important part of Leipzig’s brewing culture. However, with the rise of Pilsner beers and other light lagers, Gose lost popularity. In the 1990s, however, Gose experienced a revival as craft brewers began to rediscover and revive the traditional style. Today, many breweries produce Gose beers, often with creative variations.
