Three new members join the “Südtiroler Gasthaus” group

Co-operation group accepts three new establishments – 5th edition of brochure published

Bozen – The beginning of the year saw three new members join the “Südtiroler Gasthaus” group. This co-operation group now counts 36 establishments, all of which have been awarded the “Südtiroler Gasthaus” quality mark. Launched in 2012 by the HGV, South Tyrol’s Association of Hoteliers and Innkeepers, the “Südtiroler Gasthaus” is now a byword for many people – both locals and visitors – when it comes to authentic, regional cuisine and an unpretentious approach to innkeeping.

Last autumn, taking account of the strict quality criteria, an independent jury voted for the admission of three new hotels and guesthouses. The establishments in question were the “Rösslwirt”, run by the Rabensteiner-Dorigoni family in Barbian, the “Kircherhof”, run by the Noflatscher family in Albeins/Brixen and the “Spanglwirt”, run by the Platzgummer family in Sand in Taufers.
The “Südtiroler Gasthaus” is a place where tradition lives on and where a special emphasis is placed on the promoting and rediscovery of traditional South Tyrolean cuisine, and the use of local, seasonal products. “The three new members convinced the jury that they both live and apply these values in their respective guesthouses. They will enhance the diversity of the group and I look forward to hearing their fresh suggestions and ideas,” says Florian Patauner, Chairman of the “Südtiroler Gasthaus” group.

Among the criteria for admission to the group is that every “Südtiroler Gasthaus” should be a place where genuine South Tyrolean hospitality and convivial gatherings are fostered, a place where traditions are lived and nurtured, but one that is also open to new ideas. There should also be a particular emphasis upon creating a harmonious ambience and ensuring the well-being of guests, while the kitchen should aim to transform regional and seasonal products into delicious fare.

New brochure
The group’s brochure has been revised in terms of content and now presents all 36 members on one double page. The special features of each guesthouse will be listed as an incentive to pay a culinary visit. “The brochure is intended as a guide to the region for those seeking genuine South Tyrolean cuisine in distinctive surroundings that offer a typical atmosphere,” emphasises Florian Patauner.
The new brochure can now be viewed online and ordered directly from the Group’s homepage. It is also available to read and take away in all member establishments.
